Cushy Baby Blanket

Pattern: Cushy Baby Blanket
Yarn: Lion Brand Homespun in Cotton Candy - 1.5 skeins, Bernat Baby Coordinates in Baby Pink - 0.75 skeins, Bernat Baby Coordinates in Lemon Custard = 0.75 skeins.
Needles: Size 19
Alterations: none.
Final measurments: 30" x 30"
Knit for: Greg & Suzie's baby - Laura (due in March)
Time spent knitting: A few hours.

Ruffled Blocks is Done!

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Off White, 2 skeins. Caron Simply Soft in Soft Pink, 1.5 skeins.
Needles: Size 8
Alterations: I used a worsted yarn single-stranded rather than dk doubled. I did 4 less repeats of the 14 rows in pattern. For the ruffle, I also used worsted yarn single-stranded rather than dk singled - because of this, I only needed approx 168 ruffles.
Final measurments: 32" x 36"
Time spent knitting: On and off for 3 months - working on the blanket and ruffle simultaneously.
Changes I’d make next time: I would keep my alterations in yarn weight. I would also add one or two more repeats width-wise to make it a little larger.

Ruffled Blocks is Almost Complete

I only have one more side of ruffles left! I have to knit it then finish attaching, but three sides are complete!

Sinful Ribbed Scarf

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Fisherman, 2 Skeins
Needles: Size 7
Final measurments: 60" long
Knit for: my aunt for Christmas
Time spent knitting: this was my "pick it up every once in a while" project, so a few months
Changes I’d make next time: a different yarn would make it a bit softer

Palindrome in the Works

Here are a few repeats. I had to stop for a bit cause I ran into a knot - and not just any knot, the color sequence changes - argh!

Ballband Cloth

Here's my first washcloth:

Pattern: Ballband Dishcloth
Yarn: Sugar & Cream Twists - Rose Twists
Needles: Size 7
Final measurments: about 9 1/4" x 9 3/4"
Knit for: myself
Time spent knitting: a few hours
Changes I’d make next time: I want to play with two colors next time, but I love the pattern.

Toddler Blankie

It's on size 50's (holy huge!) with 4 strands of Lion Brand Pound of Love in blue, green, purple, and pink.

Ruffles Have Been Started

While I'm knitting along on the Ruffled Blocks blanket, I have begun working on the ruffle to be attached to it. It needs to be at least 219 ruffles long, so only about 200 left - oy veh!

Pinwheel is Done!

I finally bound off Sarah's blanket! I had to wait until she gave birth to find out it was a boy, so I continued with the blue yarn.
I did a few inches of garter st for a border which made the blanket 39" in diameter - a little bigger than I had planned, but with the bouncing baby boy weighing in at 8lbs 14oz, a little extra is ok.

Pattern: Pinwheel Blanket
Yarn: Bernat Baby Boucle in Spring Breeze, 5 skeins (one for the border alone).
Needles: Size 8 circs - I started with 5 DPNs, switched to 29″ and finally a 47″ circ.
Border: Garter stitch, increasing on the purl side with pfb.
Final measurments: about 39″ diameter
Knit for: Sarah's baby - Chase (born on Aug 11)
Time spent knitting: On and off for 2 months. On and off for a week to finish the border and bind off.
Changes I’d make next time: I love the way this one turned out, and o love the boucle yarn for it even though it poses its own challenges. I'll definately stick with size 8 needles for this project especially since I purchased 47" for this.

My Last Time with the Oddball Shawl

My second section is done, so it's time to pass it on again. I can't wait to see what it looks like when everyone's done with it.
I used Microspun in Lilac again, but double-stranded on size 9's this time. I would have loved to knit a few more rows, but I ran out of yarn.

Ruffled Baby Blocks

This is the start of the Ruffled Baby Blocks blanket for Sue. This is about 1/3 of the blanket pattern (not including the ruffle border).
The yarn is Caron Simply Soft in Off-White - it's much more or a very pale yellow.

Detail of the pattern.

Closer detail. I must say that I didn't know that the little "x's" were in the pattern, but I absolutely love them!

Oddball Shawl Returns

The "pretty purples" shawl is back and it's beautiful! Sandy sent along some nice goodies too. I'll be using Microspun in Lilac again, but I think I will double-strand it this time since it will be holding more weight.

I just found out that I have 2 more baby blankets to work on. My bf's cousin is due in November and his sister is due in January.

I have started working on Ruffled Blocks Baby blanket for his cousin. For his sister, he chose the Pinwheel again.

Pinwheel Baby Blanket

This is the start of a Pinwheel Baby Blanket for my cousin Sarah who is due in August. We don't know if it's a boy or girl, but I can always add some pink in the border. I took this pic just before I moved it on to circs - omg was I happy to get off of dpns, although not bad for my first time.
The yarn is Bernat Baby Boucle in Spring Breeze.

Oddball Shawl

Here's my part of an Oddball Shawl going around KnittingHelp.com.
I used Lion Brand Micro-spun in Lilac. I really forgot how much a pain this yarn is to work with until I started with it again. Oh well, I always love the end result of it.

New Yarn/Swatch

Araucania Yarns' "Quellon" was onsale for half-price, so I had to buy some! It is a heavy worsted, 82% viscose (rayon) and 18% cotton, hand painted chenille yarn.

Here's a swatch for the Farmer's Market Bag. It's Patons Classic Merino Wool in Rosewood.

Old Finished Objects

Although there are plenty of beginner scarves that I never took pics of, here are the other finished projects in the lastt year and a half since I taught myself how to knit:

Here's the Soft as Snow Diagonal Baby Blanket made with Lion Brand Pound of Love. An easy pattern which knit up quickly for a former roommate's second baby boy.

Here's the Big Bad Baby Blanket from Stitch 'N Bitch. I made it with two strands of Lion Brand Micro-Spun (White and Blue). This was for my childhood bestfriend who just had her first baby. I love this pattern!

After knitting a pair of fingerless mittens in angora for myself, my boyfriend decided they would "be perfect" for his mom and sister. So just a few days before Christmas, I quickly knitted up three pairs of these (a third pair in red for my mom) in Lion Brand Wool-Ease.

Caps to the Capital: a charity knitting event across the US. Unfortunately, I had too many holiday projects to finish so I could only knit of three of these.

Just starting

well, here goes my first post. this will be my blog speciffically for my knitting.
